BlockPlate makes steel embed Plates for masonry Block walls. Actually, we make any kind of embed plates and shapes for all concrete and masonry construction and that's all we do. But the embed plates for block walls is our flagship product. It’s unique for a unique problem. For as long as we can remember, masons have struggled to install embeds on the sides of their walls. Cutting, drilling, and breaking the concrete masonry unit (CMU) to get the welded studs to fit the wall was bad enough but then the plates were loose and had to be tied or anchored until the grout was placed. Even then there would be blowouts and permanently dislodged plates. As engineers we too struggled to find a better anchor system that minimized the mason’s effort and still developed the strength we needed. And now we have it. Please follow us on this site to learn more about BlockPlate and how our products will revolutionize the industry and your next project.
BlockPlate embeds start with ASTM A572 Gr. 50 steel plate then precision cut to unique profiles. Plates are then transferred to our proprietary press and die equipment where bending of the hooked legs are formed. Legs are bent tight and square to make sure the plate fits tight and square to CMU. The finished product is an embed with a flush fitting face plate and 90 degree legs that embed deep into the CMU cell.
Blockplate embed plates facilitate optimal load transfer, ensuring an efficient distribution of forces between the steel reinforcement and the masonry.
BlockPlate embeds are installed by simply resting the embed legs on the exposed bottom CMU face shell with the legs centered in a cell. The next block is buttered and laid on top of the lower CMU, sandwiching the embed legs in the bed joint and securely held in place and ready to grout.
BlockPlate is a steel fabricator serving the construction industry and specializing in embed plates and shapes only. Embeds are used extensively in all types of buildings where structural and other miscellaneous elements must be securely connected to concrete or masonry. Mike and Craig have been active in the design and construction industry for more than 60 years, where they witnessed the dos and don’ts, and the works and doesn’t work of traditional materials, means, and methods used in the construction industry. Located in Mountain Green and Logan Utah, we are ready and eager to serve the intermountain west.
